Provenance —
Farcaster identity, traced.

Before databases, you proved who you were with a document, an ID, or someone to vouch for you. Farcaster has the same primitives — custody keys, verifications, recovery, name history. Provenance reads them and scores how clean your chain of identity is.

why this matters

Most Farcaster accounts sign up through Warpcast or a custodial wrapper, which silently holds the custody key. The user couldn't recover their account themselves if the wrapper banned them or shut down. Insiders have always known how to spot this — they look at signer count, recovery setup, fname change history, on-chain custody activity, verifications across chains. Provenance reads the same signals and renders them as a score so non-insiders can see what insiders already see.

Use it on yourself before you assume you're sovereign. Use it on accounts you're about to follow. Use it on accounts trying to sell you something.

aren't these signals already well-known?

Yes. Provenance doesn't claim to discover them — it makes them visible. Power users have read custody chains and signer counts for years; this is the consumer version of that audit.
